Multiple Sclerosis

“I am a 32 year old wife and mother. I have multiple sclerosis which is a degenerative and progressive disabling disease of the central nervous system. The disease modifying drug I take costs around $7000 a month with insurance. Then I have 6 “symptom” drugs I take to lessen the burden of the disease which calculates to over $1,200 a month. This is insane. These drugs are LIFELONG. In addition, when I have a relapse, I require a 5-day IV infusion of high dose steroids which is also extremely costly. If I ever were to lose my insurance, I wouldn’t be able to take my medication at all.”

The prescription drug pricing system in the U.S. is rigged against patients. We are fighting to change that.

Patients For Affordable Drugs will collect patient stories and amplify the voices of patients to make policymakers understand the heavy toll of high priced drugs.
