“My name is Steven Hadfield. I am a long-time North Carolinian, a husband, a grandfather of three, a football fanatic, and a rare cancer patient as well as a diabetic. I am fortunate to currently have insurance coverage through one of my employers, but as of recently, I have not been able to work as much due to my health. I fear for how much my medications will cost me when I switch over to Medicare and a supplemental plan. I worry that I will not be able to afford to live. The Social Security check that I receive only covers my rent. No one should have to live their life wondering if they will be able to pay the price to stay alive. I want to continue to treat my cancer and my diabetes as well as I can so that I can keep doing the things I love. I want to see more football games, I want to spend more time with my grandchildren, and I want to continue to live the life that I love with my wife. “
