President Trump gets some key things right in today’s statement:

✓ Prescription drug prices have gone through the roof—they are out of control.
✓ The drug corporations are getting away with murder.
✓ Other countries are setting prices and we are not.
✓ US patients pay 2, 3 even 4 times more than people in other countries for the same exact medicine.

But the President is wrong about one key thing: We are not getting screwed by other nations; we are getting screwed by the drug companies. The solution is not for other countries to pay more. The solution is for the US to do what those other countries do—bargain over drug prices. That is why we need direct Medicare price negotiations. We can and should do what every other major nation does to hold down drug prices.
